Worlds Chat was the first publicly available 3D virtual chat by Worlds Inc, and is a product of a collaborated effort with the Starbright Foundation in 1994 to bring software for children in hospitals around the globe. It was originally called "Starbright Worlds" when it was hospital software but it didn't take long for it to have a public release. Worlds Chat released in public beta form in 1995, being updated and gathering a dedicated community around it.
Worlds Chat would be replaced by a much more updated and completed version in 1996 called Worlds Chat Gold. It's release was celebrated by an event known as the "End of the Worlds" before the software being released with both a free and paid version.
Worlds Chat Gold and it's development would be halted by the acquisition in 1997, which ended up spawning it's replacement, WorldsPlayer. Worlds Chat Gold survived in Japan thanks to a deal with GlopeWarp Japan, which made it's own clients and licensed out spin-offs. The last online server from Worlds Chat Japan is believed to have survived until 2011.
